Persepolis essay

November 7, 2013 I’m writing to support, and defend the rights we, as students have to read graphic novels, like Persepolis. Thinking of banning this book is repugnant. This book may be a graphic in more than one Way, but the content may seem crass, but let me ask you this, is what we see in the book worse than What were exposed to with social media the fallowing are examples: twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Tumbler, Myspace just to name a few. This book maybe setup like a comic book, but for this generation That is used to visual stuff on their phones that’s a good thing it keeps are attention longer and has us Actually enjoying a book for once, me being a student that doesn't read very much outside of class I find Reading graphic novels are a way to change things up and show youth that reading isn't all just words On a page that there is more to it and that it is boring but it can be fun and interesting and be something They can enjoy. Persepolis teaches valuable life lessons, when you see the life choices Marji, had made that directed Her down a pathway of destruction students can learn from her mistakes and begin to see there are Better life choice one can make. So I ask you is better that we learn from her mistakes and avoid making Thoughts choice or should be uninformed and make them are self? This book is a gate way for students to start getting into reading, explore different types of ligature , it show students that reading doesn't have to be just all words and no visuals, it breaks down the Dreaded thought of having to read words by supplying the student with something that draws their Attention and like I stated early this generation is visual, so by providing something new to the youth That breaks down the walls of the stereotypes we have on reading book you prolonging the students Desire for something visual and starting a renewed interest in reading. So for my ending question Do you thing banning books like Persepolis is beneficial to a student, who Lacks a hunger for reading in today’s visual society? Thank you for you time to read this Sincerely, Mario D. Soto P.S. How can a jazz music composer be creative in his writing compositions when all he has listen to is Classical romantic era music? Creativity comes from a spark of inspiration. – Mario D. Soto

Literature Analysis The book I have been reading is Blue like jazz, the plot of this is like a time line story the author also show case his before Christ days, his misconceptions of what Christianity was . One of the things the author says in his being notes that stuck to my heart and this might sound kind of byes on account of I’m a christen who services the lord and a intentional saxophone player who loves jazz music and can be a deep thinker but back to the essay (sorry for the tangent ). The things the author says that sticks is “NEVER LIKED JAZZ MUSIC because it doesn’t resolve “the author continue to tell a story how he can to love the art style of music and how he came to have the same relitazation when it can to Christ, he says, “sometimes you have to watch somebody love something before you can love it yourself.” What I got from that was a remind because serving God can be had be as a christen were thought to live a life as a relationship with God and walk in his sons footsteps and learn from the word and to exercise it with evangelism and use it in are life to help us see how we can over a trial in life, the word of God is where you find enlightenment were you find direction were find answers today’s questions. The word is a key in life it directs and shows you the answers for things in your life, but back to the easy again the thing is being a Christian your life style should effect people to were when your around those unsaved and saved they just can see how you hand life and see the joy in your life even when you’re going through it, and be tempted to read things of God and continue to ask about him and being to want a relationship with God, being a christen means to be Christ like to live like he lived I know we all come short of his glory but it’s a point we need to make to repent when we fall and get back up and continue to walk the way of Christ. The theme of the novel is just finding Christ and seeing the light. The author begins to show how he had to find the relationship with Christ even with all the misconceptions he had, overcome different things and how he had friends who helped him see what the relationship with God was. The author dose a good great job of describing how he came to know Christ how he began he feel the presents of God in his life how he begins to see the works of God are real, how he sees the word of God isn’t just a book but it’s the answer to the questions in life and the problems we face. The authors tone shows a display of different emotions of how he began to rumens on how he saw saved, how he began to feel convicted when he did wrong, how in the being of his walk he began to get it twisted what he thought what God was, and what God really was. He describes God in the first chapter or two as a, “slot machine” and he realizes that what he thought was God was karma and how he would just repent to God when he did something wrong. He had a cycle of sinning and repenting, but there came time when his conviction was strong that he repented but he just felt so bad yet he couldn’t run from that conviction. The autos style of reading is he takes you to this place with a flash back then the he takes to a place of being the story, to sum up what I’m saying is he paints a picture so real you feel life your in the story or your being told it first hand from a story teller. The author (when I read the ch. Pagan sex) he use a lot of personification and similes that he use to bring a mess he manage to convey a complex message in such few words. I hope continue reading more in to this book it’s really a blessing to read its great for any one in Christ weather you have been saved for a while or just got saved recently.

Neatness draft In the Story of Antigone, there are different displays of loyalty and hurberus, for one of the two main characters Antigone it’s her loyalty to her family and gods, for the other (Creano) it’s his loyalty to his state. In the story, Antigone shows her loyalty to her family and gods by burying her brother Polynieces, even thought there was a law passed saying no one is to bury his body. She voices her loyalty when she says, (36. 774) “Creano is not strong enough to stand in my way.” she continues to also say, “But I will bury him and if I must die, I say this crime is holy: I shall lie down with him, and I shall be as dear to him as he is to me.“(.816. 56-60). The use of the contents of the words when she says “dear to me as I am to him.” shows her loyalty is so great that she is willing to die for her brother. When she says “holy crime” she means that it’s the will of the gods/the law of the gods she also stands by this in her time of conflict when Creano asks “did you do it” she points out this law on .783 .65 when she says “It was the gods proclamation That final justice that rules the world below make no such law.” what she is saying here, is the crime shouldn’t be crime it was for the work of the gods and points out that what creano said ,was a lie from the pits of hell that the laws he passed wasn’t just. Creano’s loyalty is to is to his state, in the story he says, (777.8) “No one values a friendship more highly than I but we must remember that friendships make at the risk of wreaking our ship are not real friendships at all.” To sum up the quote what he is saying, is that I’m sold out to the sate that I’m willing to shut every one out and cut every tie to keep the state. He also proves his loyalty, when he tells his son (702) “I suppose she’ll plead “family ties” well let her if I permit my own family to rebel, how shall I earn the world’s obeisance?” , Show me a man who keeps his house over his state and is fit to lead. What he is saying in the quota is just, what do you want me to look like a fool in front of everybody? What he also trying to convey a message that is, to cut ties to keep your stand and not change to not be moved or change so easy to keep your state of your family to put your state first and family last or as we can see in a more modern seen “work first ,family second “. The downfall of both Antigone and Creano’s if huberus. Creano’s huberus was his power trip he tells his sentry (778.61) “And death it is: yet money talks, and the wisest have sometimes been known to count few coins too many.” He is also he tells the blind profit Teiresias, “The generation of prophets have always loved gold.” What’s he’s doing is just assuming things with his power that people are coming agents him. Antigone’s hurberus is the stubbornness of not moving and keeping to what she did when she tells Creano,” I do. I deny nothing.” She voices a bit of regret or complains when see says “O Thebes O man many charioteain love with fortune, Dear spring of dried scared the grave, be witness , for me denied all pity, unjust just: and no more tears. Basically what she is getting at is she saying, people just look at how messed up this is, but she also saying to I’m being punished for what I stand for the love and loyalty to family and gods. Both of there huberus resulted in death. This story is a story of: self reflection, don’t mess with forces greater than your own (i.e. the gods) and don’t let pride and power over cloud your ability to think. The story also shows how you shouldn’t stick with just a rash desertion how you should think about a move and take advice about a predicament you’re in. I believe this story is relevant to even today society. If give a chance to recommend this play I would because it has a lot of every useful info today’s worlds.
